We finally made it: at the beginning of September 2001 the Beefalo breeders of Australia formed a Society.
Our goal: to promote Beefalo, to keep our high
standard by strict rules and regulations regarding the term 'BEEFALO' and the
exchange of information and genetics. August 2005: due to several factors,
including the severe drought, high insurance costs and the inability to have
an AGM australiawide, we have to discontinue our incorporated status. The Beefalo
Society will live on and we'll provide you with Beefalo information, Beefalo genetics
and advice just as before, only with no membership fees to pay!
We still aim to make sure that every Beefalo animal is the animal it pretends to be, by continuing
DNA fingerprinting for all breeding Beefalo animals
DNA
fingerprinting guarantees that animals sold as Beefalo, be it for stud purposes
or meat, can prove their ancestry without any doubt. Therefore a breeding animal sold as
Beefalo should come with a DNA guarantee. The Beefalo Society still gets a
discount for DNA Fingerprinting done through the Society
